A Student-Led Conference is for students to share with their parents the academic and non-academic performance and growth the student has demonstrated over the course of a school year. The philosophy behind student-led conferences is that the teacher, parents, and student are all important participants in striving to improve the child’s education. Google Sites provides a platform for students to create a digital portfolio where they have the opportunity to select artifacts, showing both growth and failure, to deepen their connection to the content and take ownership of their learning. The curating, sharing and reflective process of a digital portfolio lends itself to students learning about their digital footprint as well as use 21st Century Skills as they become curators of artifacts and reflective thinkers. Participants will learn about using Google Sites as a digital portfolio tool and the ease of integration with G-Suite and additional web 2.0 tools such as FlipGrid.
