I will offer the idea of integrating poetry into the science classroom to increase students' emotional connection to the subject. Positive emotions have been linked to an increase in students' self-efficacy while many scientists have shared personal stories of how they entered their scientific field because of an emotional attachment. The session will include student work from the last two years, scientific article support of the argument, and of course time to write their own haiku.
